Life Coaching is a widely misunderstood Approach.

By some considered a modern form of counselling, by others an expensive agony aunt and by many a bi-product of American’s attitude to chasing the proverbial dream. The truth couldn’t be more different.

Life coaching has grown to be a hugely successful form of talking therapy, to the extent that it has helped turn people’s lives around.

A life coach is someone that looks to empower others by helping them make, meet and exceed goals in both their personal and professional lives.

Guidance is the life coach providing the tools and support for someone to broaden their perspective and open their mind, hence enabling them to reach their goals.

Empowerment is to a large extent down to the individual to realise their own self-worth and self-belief that has, for one reason or another, diminished.

And improvement in the sense that an individual will go from where they are to where they want to be, in effect reaching their goal.

Life coaching can help with virtually any aspect of someone’s life, whether it is in their personal or professional life.

Hiring a life coach for personal difficulties has become a huge market and is continuing to grow.

Most often a life coach’s services are required for family coaching or help with a relationship. With over a third of all marriages in the UK ending in divorce, more and more people are turning to a life coach in an attempt to save their relationship.

The stress of work coupled with financial worries mean young couples have less time for each other and this heavily impacts upon their home life and in turn causes strain in a relationship.

As a result, the demand for relationship coaching has risen exponentially over the last decade.

There are many other reasons why people seek the services of a life coach for personal endeavours.

These vary from a lack of motivation to exercise, help taking up a new hobby or indeed improving at an existing hobby, and having someone to consult before taking a gap year or year abroad.

Of course people are going to be sceptical about firstly turning to a life coach and secondly opening up to someone in an intimate environment.

However the success of a life coach is highly dependent on the individual and their desire to change.

A life coach isn’t a miracle worker, just as a counsellor isn’t. But rather than dwelling on the past and probing what has gone before, a life coach has a more positive outlook and will concentrate on the future and encourage personal development.

  2. DEEP INSIGHT: We go deep and discover what is really stopping you today, such as unhelpful behaviours, limiting beliefs or perceived obstacles – and remove them.

  4. ACCOUNTABILITY: We keep you accountable between sessions ensuring that you complete growth tasks and assignments to move you forward.

From my experience every type of individual will come to me for coaching. The only traits these people have in common is the desire to change part of their life so they are happier, and the realisation that they will stay focussed and get there quicker with the support of a coach.

During each session we will recap on the actions set and achieved from the last session and look at general progress and successes. We will then set a ‘session goal’ to clearly set out what you want to achieve by the end of the day’s session. We then explore where you are at the moment with that particular goal; what you have tried; what has worked and any obstacles you have come across along the way. We then explore all the possible options in achieving that goal, using lots of techniques to really extract options that you have never thought of before. Lastly and most importantly we look at what actions you want to set yourself from the list of options to achieve that session’s goal.

The benefits of Life Coaching are having someone that is solely dedicated to you and the achievement of your goals. They are non-judgemental, supportive, encouraging and motivating just when you need it. They keep you focussed on where you want to be and moving forward in the right direction. They will enable you to get to where you want to be in life, much faster than you could on your own.

All sessions take approximately 60 minutes. These sessions can be weekly, fortnightly or monthly, whatever suits your life and the speed at which you can take actions to achieve your goals.

This depends on what you want to achieve with your coaching. Most people come to a  Coach with a life-changing goal in mind. In order to achieve this we look at smaller goals, that need to be achieved each session, to move you closer to your overall goal. For some people this may take as little as 6 sessions and for others it will be more. It is a very personal decision based on your individual goal.

In the majority of cases the coaching will take place over  zoom , facetime or wats app call or videos. This has proven to be the most convenient way for individuals to fit coaching into their busy lives. Other than the phone/laptop, you will need a quiet room with no distractions where you can totally focus on the conversation. Face to face coaching is available, to those who book packages both in Essex and London, if they prefer this option.
